D.29 appoints Stange

The Sunset Ridge School District 29 Board of Education has appointed Edward J. Stange district superintendent.

Stange, who is now the assistant superintendent/director of student services will assume the post on July 1, 2013 when Linda Vieth retires.

The board unanimously approved the appointment Dec. 4.

Sunset Ridge District 29, 525 Sunset Ridge Road, Northfield is a kindergarten through eighth-grade district, with an enrollment of 496 students.

“Throughout the search process, the Board of Education was extremely diligent in assessing educational philosophy supportive of our mission statement, expertise in institutional management, and familiarity with our learning community’s culture,” Board President Phoebe Raymond said. “At the end of the process, Ed was selected from a very talented pool of state, national and global candidates. He has done an outstanding job in his present role with District 29, earning the respect and admiration of students, parents, staff, and administration. He exemplifies our mission statement to support one child at a time, and the Board believes he will lead the District forward with both intellect and heart.”

Stange has been responsible for special education programs, gifted/enrichment services, social emotional learning, English language learning, and student assessment.

Prior to that, he was administrator of multi-district services for NSSED in Highland Park. He holds a Ph.D. and Ed.S. in school psychology as well as a M.A. in curriculum from the University of South Florida.

There will be a reception for Stange from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., and again from 6 to 7 p.m. on Dec. 10, in the Sunset Ridge School Learning Center, 525 Sunset Ridge Road in Northfield, Students, parents, staff and community members are welcome to attend.
