Crow parade
The Crow Parade will be held June 7. The crow statues created by the fourth grade class will be displayed on the Crow Island School’s front lawn.
Last day of attendance
The last day of student attendance will be June 8. Dismissal times vary; check your school newsletter for details.
Reading opportunities
The Skokie School will be offering reading opportunities for students throughout the summer. Classes will be taught by the school’s language arts and special services teachers. The Summer Reading Program is sponsored by The Winnetka Public Schools Foundation.
Summer institute
Teachers from The Winnetka Public Schools will have the opportunity to participate in a two-day Summer Institute. Staff and administrators will be working with Sam Chaltain to “Define Our Identity as Public School Educators in the 21st Century.” The Summer Institute is sponsored by The Winnetka Public Schools Foundation.
Adventures in Learning
The Winnetka Public School’s summer program, Adventures in Learning, will run June 18-July 20. Registration has begun.
Junior kindergarten registration
The Winnetka Public Schools District 36 plans to offer junior kindergarten for children who will be four years old years old by Sept. 1, 2012 (born before Sept. 2, 2008).
Registration is open to residents and non-residents. Applications will be available starting Tuesday from the district office and online at www.winnekta36.org. Enrollment in this tuition-based program will be on a first come, first served basis upon receipt of completed application and a $150 nonrefundable deposit. The cost of this program is $4,183 plus the deposit. For more information, contact Janice Sward at the district office (847) 501-2735.
Preschool program
Little Learners, a preschool program for 3-5 year olds, that is run jointly by The Winnetka Public Schools and the North Shore Special Education District, is accepting applications. The blended program has a maximum enrollment of 14 students. Seven are reserved for students with special needs and seven are for same age peers. The cost is $3300. Board meeting
The next regular meeting of the Winnetka Public Schools Board will be held at 7:15 p.m. June 12 in the Carleton Washburne School Resource Center. The agenda will be posted at the district office and online and at all school buildings. The public board packet will be available online the day before the meeting.
