Backpacks taken
Two backpacks, one containing change, were taken between 5:15 p.m. Nov. 5 and 1:15 p.m. Nov. 6 from, a vehicle parked on the 8200 block of Niles Center Road. Police said there were no signs of force to the vehicle.
Garbage, recycling cans taken
A garbage can and a recycling can valued at nearly $300 were taken between 3 p.m. Dec. 6 and 2:24 p.m. Dec. 8 from the east side of a garage on the 5200 block of Arcadia.
BB gun fired
A small hole and a crack in a house window were caused by a BB gun fired at 1:15 a.m. Dec. 9 on the 8000 block of Kenton Avenue. Police said the victim was standing in her living room when she heard a noise by her window and then found the damage.
Jewelry, cash taken
Jewelry valued at about $2,650 and bills and coins valued at $300 were taken between 9 a.m. Dec. 2 and 9:30 p.m. Dec. 8 from a home on the 3800 block of Birchwood Avenue. Police said a window was found unsecured, which could have been a point of entry.
iPhone taken
An Apple iPhone valued at $650 was taken between noon and 12:30 p.m. Dec. 7 from the Cook County Courthouse on the 5600 block of Old Orchard Road. Police said the phone was taken from a bench. The phone was later recovered in Chicago, police said.
Honda Accord taken
A 2000 Honda Accord was taken between 3 p.m. Nov. 30 and 6 p.m. Dec. 5 while parked near the 3700 block of Enfield Avenue. Police said the victim did not remember exactly where he parked his vehicle but then said it was parked on Lawndale Avenue. Inside the vehicle were an iPhone and books for school, police said.
Purse with cash taken
A purse containing $600 and miscellaneous cards was taken between noon and 12:30 p.m. Dec. 5 from Macy’s at Westfield Old Orchard. Police said the purse was on the victim’s coat, which she took off. When she put the coat on, she realized it was no longer there, police said.
iPad, cash taken
An Apple iPad valued at $550 and $380 in cash were taken between 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Dec. 11 from a home on the 4200 block of Lee Street. Police said the cash was taken from a bedside table drawer and the iPod from a bedside table. A neighbor said he heard someone running from the backyard the night before, police said.
Rental truck not returned
A 2006 GMC truck was rented Oct. 22 and never returned to Budget Rent A Car on the 5100 block of Dempster Street. The truck was supposed to be returned Oct. 23, police said.
iPad taken at restaurant
An Apple iPad valued at $800 was taken between 11:45 a.m. and noon Dec. 8 from De Carlucci’s Pizza on the 4000 block of Main Street. Police said the victim, who works at the restaurant, plugged the iPad in near the front counter to charge it and left it unattended when it was taken.
Items taken from backyard
An air conditioning unit, a bicycle and a snow blower were taken between 4:30 p.m. Dec. 9 and 11:30 a.m. Dec. 10 from the backyard of a home on the 8600 block of Trumbull Avenue. Police said the rear yard was not secured.~.
