NORTHFIELD
After receiving several complaints from residents, the Northfield officials have expressed their own dissatisfaction with the recent road work completed on Happ Road.
Happ was resurfaced from Winnetka Road north to an area just south of Willow Road. According to a village email, the Cook County Highway Department, which oversees the road, also indicated they are not satisfied with the project.
“We think it is far from a satisfactory product,” Northfield Village Manager Stacy Sigman said. “It is a county road and the county has to go back to their contractor and get it repaired. We’ve reached out to Cook County and said we believe it’s unacceptable. They believe it’s less than satisfactory on their end.”
Sigman says timing could affect any attempts to repair the road this late in the season.
“The county and their contractor are against the time window,” Sigman said. “Asphalt plants typically close the first week of November. The challenge may be getting this fixed before winter, but we feel very confident they’ll come back and fix it.”
Gary Fron of the Cook County Highway Department, District 2, was not immediately available for comment. ~.
