NORTHFIELD – The Purdue Varsity Glee Club will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 6 to raise money for Youth Services of Glenview and Northbrook after the unexpected deaths of several young Northbrook men over the last few months.

The Glee Club will sing at the Christian Heritage Academy, 315 Waukegan Road, Northfield. For $20 per person tickets, call 847-724-2620.

The money will help pay for programs directed by Nancy Bloom, the executive director of Youth Services of Glenview and Northbrook, to support grief counseling.

“Youth Services is an outstanding community program that helps kids along their way in life. When kids are going through a rough patch, they can readily contact Youth Services for professional, confidential help,” said Robert Lechner of Northbrook, a tenor who will perform with the glee club.

“Life is all about hurdling our obstacles and some of us need a bit of assistance along the way – it’s a healthy attitude to reach out for help.”

The Purdue Varsity Glee Club, which was founded in 1893, has entertained at community, state, national and international events, averaging between 50-60 appearances each year.

Members consistently maintain a high level of academic excellence in majors ranging from engineering and education to management and biological sciences.

The troupe has a versatile repertoire including gospel, vocal jazz and swing
