NORTHFIELD | The Northfield Police Department is investigating a possible attempted child abduction that took place last week.

According to a department release, a 13-year-old girl was walking home at 12:50 p.m. Aug. 24 when the incident took place on southbound Riverside Drive near Stockton Drive.

The offender, believed to be a white male over the age of 45, was sitting in the passenger seat of a silver, four-door, mid-size vehicle and yelled, “Come, come here ... come!” while gesturing toward the vehicle with his hand.

The girl refused and fled the area. The vehicle then left the scene, making a U-turn before driving off on westbound Winnetka Road.

“This case is currently classified as a suspicion, meaning that it is unknown if a crime was intended or occurred,” Northfield Police Detective Thomas Hanus said.

The male suspect was described as having white, medium-length hair, which was parted to the left, and is of average height and build. He was wearing a red polo shirt and spoke with a European accent.

The driver of the vehicle was a female. A female backseat passenger was described as short with dirty blonde hair.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Northfield Police Department at 847-446-2131.
