Levin presides over awards

Updated: September 17, 2012 12:48PM

Jennifer Levin of Glencoe will preside over the second annual First Chair Awards on Aug. 29 at Fulton’s on the River in Chicago.

Marking its second year as an in-house counsel awards program, First Chair LLC will present more than 130 First Chair statues to lawyers from around the country before guests from as far away as Japan. First Chair was Levin’s brainchild, and she has spent the past three years building it from scratch.

“The success of First Chair Awards continues to amaze me,” said Levin. “This year, we received more than twice the nominations as we did in our inaugural year, and we have been able to recognize even more talented in-house lawyers from around the country.”

Among the companies whose lawyers will be honored in 2012 are Rand McNally, PetSmart, Exelon, Sears, Navigant, Harley Davidson, McDonald’s, GlaxoSmithKilne. Wal-Mart, GroupOn and Credit Suisse.

In the year since First Chair came on the scene, Levin and her colleagues also produced The First Chair Magazine, which was sent to 80,000 attorneys nationwide.

First Chair is designed to bring together a community of attorneys in private practice with their in-house peers in order to recognize achievement. There are several organizations that acknowledge the accomplishments of attorneys in private practice. There are also corporate counsel associations that evaluate in-house counsel performance. First Chair is structured to unite the two communities through networking and recognizing the accomplishments of the legal profession.
