North Shore Senior Center receives grant

North Shore Senior Center has been chosen as the recipient of a $25,000 grant to support its services in the areas of Elder Abuse prevention, education and outreach.

The grant is being awarded by the Million Dollar Round Table Foundation (MDRT) in honor of John W. Cruikshank of Northbrook, in recognition of the volunteer work he has done with North Shore Senior Center.

Elected to the North Shore Senior Center Board of Directors in 2001 and the Board of Trustees of the North Shore Senior Center Foundation in 2006, Cruikshank has served on the personnel, resource development, finance, and board development committees. In 2008, he became chair of the Board of Directors and has led several major initiatives.

Cruikshank has represented Northwestern Mutual since he entered the life insurance business in l959. He twice ranked within the Company’s exclusive Top 20 agents, and served as president of Special Agents, Inc., the organization that represents Northwestern’s more than 7,000 representatives. In 1994-95, he was president of Northwestern’s Association of Agents and rom 1978-96, he lectured twice a year on best business practices at the Northwestern’s Advanced Marketing School.

Cruikshank qualified for MDRT membership in l963. His first standing committee assignment was in l971. He served as a Divisional Vice President three times. In l993, he was elected to the Executive Committee, and became MDRT President in l996-97. He is an Excalibur Knight of the MDRT Foundation, and served as its president in 1989-90.
