A group comprised of New Trier High School students has raised $5,000 as a benefit for LEARN Charter Schools.

LEARN is a not-for-profit network of public charter schools that serves the poorest communities in Chicago. Specifically, the Music Institute of Chicago has agreed to create a music enrichment program for three of the five LEARN campuses, and the money earned at the concert will be donated to an endowment fund.

More than 150 people attended the June 9 concert at Nichols Hall at the Music Institute of Chicago in Evanston.

The talented students who performed include: Amber Scherer (violinist and pianist, winner of the Walgreens Concerto Competition), Aaron Lewis and Jason Lewis (classical guitarists and recently featured in Chicago Guitar Magazine), Emily Jones (concert mistress of the New Trier Symphony), Carrie Jones (principle violist of the New Trier Symphony), Lexy Prodromos (first soprano vocalist, winner of Opera Idol), Stephany Prodromos (first soprano), a quartet; Vivian Jou-violin, Teagan Robinson-cello, Solena Rizzato- viola & Emelia Suljic- violin (all members of the New Trier Symphony).
