New transit program in New Trier Township
New Trier Township and the Council on Jewish Elderly/Senior Life (CJE)'s Mobility Access is a door-to-door paratransit service that provides accessible van service for mobility challenged residents.

New Trier Township is partnering with Council on Jewish Elderly/Senior Life (CJE) to provide a new transit program that will provide a Township Government subsidized transportation alternative to residents who are mobility impaired. Mobility Access is a door-to-door paratransit service that provides accessible van service for mobility challenged residents.
“Mobility Access is an essential service allowing New Trier Township residents with mobility challenges to travel where they need to go, whether it’s to life essential appointments or social and recreational activities,” said Patricia B. Cantor, New Trier Township Supervisor. Prior to using the service, riders are required to register with the Township and provide a doctor’s certification of eligibility.
Through the financial support of the Township, all eligible residents who utilize wheelchairs, scooters and other mobility devices that require a lift-equipped vehicle will receive a discounted fare. Upon providing proof of income, residents with household income under $50,000 will be eligible for a 75% subsidy from the Township.
The service is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Special arrangements can be made for other days and hours. In addition to Mobility Access, the Township’s Dial A Ride program offers discounted taxi fares for residents 65 years of age and older and persons with disabilities. The Township also partners with North Shore Senior Center and provides an Escorted Transportation service for persons age 60 and older who require transportation and an escort to and from medical or dental appointments.
