Story Image

A check for $3,000 was presented on Oct. 25 by Valerie McGhee, left, president of the Lincolnshire Morning Star Rotary, to Wendy LaPlaca, program director for CASA Lake County in Vernon Hills. McGhee, executive director of Sedgebrook in Lincolnshire made the presentation at a Rotary breakfast meeting at Walker Bros Original Pancake House, Lincolnshire. The proceeds are from the Rotary club’s Sept. 13 annual golf outing in Buffalo Grove. LaPlaca said the gift will allow CASA to train three more volunteers to serve as advocates for abused and neglected children in Lake County. Many of these children live in unsafe environments and are affected by issues such as mental illness, drug and alcohol addiction. She said more than ever, contributions from local organizations such as Rotary are vital to sustaining CASA. For more information, see casalakecounty.com.
