The following incidents were listed among the official reports of the Winnetka and Northfield police departments. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a finding of guilt. Only a court of law can make that determination.

WINNETKA

THEFT

A Prada purse and contents valued at $1,300 were stolen from the park district’s Tennis Shack, 530 Hibbard Rd., some time between 1 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. June 27. The tan-colored purse was left unattended. It contained a Coach wallet, money and credit cards; a checkbook; Ray-Ban sunglasses and a cell phone.

Two bicycles were reported stolen June 27 from a rack at 858 Green Bay Road. In one case, someone stole a locked bicycle between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. by cutting off a cable lock, which was left laying on the ground. The white Giant Boulder girls’ bike was valued at $342.

In the other incident, an unlocked 21-speed mountain bike was taken between 12:30 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. The purple Trek 3700 boys’ bike was valued at $200.

Police received a report June 25 that antiques valued at more than $7,000 had been stolen from a shop on the 800 block of Green Bay Road on May 9.

BURGLARY TO AUTO

Headphones and a phone-charging card were taken from an automobile parked on the 1000 block of Ash Street between 6 p.m. June 27 and 7 a.m. June 28. The victim did not know if the vehicle was locked. The loss was estimated at $250.

CRIMINAL DAMAGE

A wall of the pedestrian tunnel at Sunset and Green Bay roads was defaced with red spray paint between June 19 and Friday. The damage was discovered by a police officer. The village’s public works department was notified in order that the paint could be removed. The cost of removal was estimated at $100.

A resident discovered Saturday that someone had damaged lattice fence panels in a yard on the 500 block of Meadow Road. The damage occurred some time between June 27 and Saturday. Repair costs were estimated at $275.

DUI

A 53-year-old Winnetka woman was charged with driving under influence following a stop June 28 on the 900 block of Hill Road. Suzanne G. Hilbrant, of 160 Westview, also was cited for use of a hand-held cell phone while driving. Her court date is Aug. 1.
